The Story Behind the Name
Callisto Counselling
Callisto is one of Jupiter’s largest moons, and it is known to be the most heavily cratered and impacted surface in our entire solar system. Despite its continued orbit through adversity and hardship, this moon shows signs of life above and below its surface. To me, this is symbolic of resilience, perseverance, and strength, all of which we work to develop throughout your counselling journey.
Moons are representative of many things. They are the light in a sky full of darkness that can help guide you through moments of great difficulty. They cycle through many phases of newness and age, just as we do in our own lives. Moons represent power, rejuvenation, renewal, hope, wisdom, guidance, and transformation. These are all elements of the therapy experience that I hope to impart on every client who sits across from me.
So, what exactly is the story behind starting Callisto Counselling, anyways?
Let me take you back to 2020. I was newly married, working a job that I didn’t really like, dealing with chronic health issues, and generally feeling like I was lost. Joy was hard to find. My body felt like it was betraying me. My mental health was suffering.
I started going to counselling in the spring of 2020 for my own personal reasons. It was certainly an exploratory experience, but I am so grateful for finally taking the leap and sitting down in that cozy therapy office. The very first session of my therapy experience was enough to show me that this was what I wanted to do with my life.
Fast forward one master’s degree and three years later, and here I am, trying to pass on that same unconditional respect and positive regard I was privileged to experience during my first therapy session.
