Meet Tia Prince | MACP, RCC, ccc

Hey there! I’m Tia Prince, owner of Callisto Counselling.
I feel incredibly honoured to join the community of Fraser Valley counselling professionals, and I look forward to connecting with you on a more personal level. My counselling philosophy is rooted in open and genuine curiosity, and I take a nonjudgmental stance with every new client interaction. I like to think of myself as your anchor. As I listen to your story and support the exploration of your self identity and mental health, know that I am here to help keep you grounded in reality and safe from drifting too far.
I am a firm believer that everyone can experience benefits from counselling, and that everyone should experience the counselling process at least once in their lives. Pursuing counselling is a courageous thing to do, and I can empathize with firsthand experience at how the therapy process is equally remarkable and challenging. If you have made it this far, and are considering therapy for yourself, let me just say that I see you and I am proud of you for taking this step.

Who is Tia outside of therapy?
I like to think of myself as a seemingly unrelated jumble of interests and hobbies all rolled into one gal with glasses and curly hair.
Outside of the therapy office, you’ll find me either out for a walk doing some forest bathing, kayaking as far away from cell reception as possible, or cozied up at home with my two cats and husband watching a scary movie while knitting. I’m the only one who knits in my household, but it would be very cute if cats could knit. A girl can dream.
I grew up dancing in the Fraser Valley and this is something that has followed me into adulthood. I was on the Canadian Tap Team for tap dancing (yes, we have one of those apparently) and competed internationally in Germany. Now I am trying to pass along my deep passion for tap dance, and dance of all forms, to the teenagers of today through my work as a dance instructor. Dance is a major component of my life story, and I hold a great admiration for the craft itself while also recognizing that it can be toxic and sometimes dangerous place for young kids to live and play. By teaching, I try little by little to make changes in the dance culture to make it a more celebratory, inclusive, and safe place for future generations to enjoy.
I am passionate about helping people, and I love to learn. I respect vulnerability and believe everyone’s story is worth sharing. If you feel like I might be a good fit for your counselling journey, please reach out today and book a free 15-minute phone call so we can discuss your goals for therapy.
